About
My name is Matthew, but most people call me Matt, or at work, they call me Sgt. I have been in the Military for over ten years. In my years of service, I have lived, traveled, and been deployed to multiple countries. My career in the Air Force is in Emergency Management, where I work in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), dealing with command and control of natural and man-made incidents. I operate the common operating picture, the technology that informs everybody where the incident is and informs of roadblocks and off-limit areas. I also work with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint daily when training new EOC representatives or the base on CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) warfare survival skills.
While working in the military, I am going to UAGC to pursue a bachelor's in Cyber and Data security. I am pursuing this degree because I'm fascinated by technology and realize that it is a part of everything. Protecting it has become a big issue with identity theft and malware. I’ve never worked in a job specializing in IT, and other than owning computers, and phones, working with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and taking a few courses through this school, I don’t have much experience with technology. This is why I have created this blog, to help those who are just beginning their journey in the Information Technology field and to learn as I research and post different blogs. My goal from my current course at UAGC is to gain a better understanding of IT and share my experiences and knowledge with my readers. I hope to, one day after the completion of my degree, be able to work for the military as a Cyber Officer.
